Certified
Testing
Tested by CSIRO Division of Building Construction & Engineering
in accordance with Australian Standard 1530, Methods for fire
tests on building materials, components and structures, Part
4 – 1990, Fire resistant tests of elements of building
construction.
Door Dimensions - Standard
Maximum Height: 4000mm*
Maximum Width: 5000mm*
*Total door size must not exceed 20m².
Door Dimensions - Oversize
Maximum Height: 4300mm*
Maximum Width: 8000mm*
*Total door size must not exceed 28m².
Curtain - Standard
The curtain shall be manufactured using 75mm by 0.8mm thick
roll-formed galvanised interlocking steel slats. Each alternative
slat shall be fitted with steel end clips to form a 2 hour
rating curtain.
Curtain - Oversize
The curtain shall be manufactured using 75mm by 1.0mm thick
roll-formed galvanised interlocking steel slats. Each alternative
slat shall be fitted with steel end clips to form a 2 hour
rating curtain.
Finish
The curtain and guide channels shall be fabricated from galvanised
material. All remaining components shall be given a coat of
zinc rich Grey primer.
Bottom Rail - Standard
The bottom rail shall be manufactured using mild steel angles
of not less than 40mm by 40mm and 2.5mm thick bolted to back
with the last slat sandwiched between the angles. The bolts
shall not be less than 8mm diameter and fixed at not less
than 300mm centres. Two lifting handles shall be fitted to
the bottom rail on either side of the shutter centre.
Bottom Rail - Oversize
The bottom rail shall be manufactured using mild steel angles
of not less than 40mm by 40mm and 4mm thick bolted to back
with the last slat sandwiched between the angles. The bolts
shall not be less than 8mm diameter and fixed at not less
than 300mm centres.
Automatic Closing
In the event of a fire the door shall automatically close
in order to prevent flame spread. The fusible link (rated
at 80°C) fitted below the roller drum at one end is connected
to a spring loaded automatic release arm. The release arm
shall activate the automatic release/push down spring allowing
the door to automatically close.
The roller drum automatic release shall be fitted with a specially
designed automatic controlled descent governor to match the
door size and weight.
The governor shall be designed to provide an average speed
of between 250mm-300mm per second.
Smoke Detectors and/or
Automatic Reverse (Optional)
Fire resistant Roller Shutters may be wired in conjunction
with smoke detectors and fitted with an Automatic Reverse
Touch Sensor strip where required, or specified.
Labeling/Compliance Certificates
The fire resistant Roller Shutter shall be labeled by using
a metal steel tag being 50mm by 25mm. The tag shall be stamped
with the manufacturers name, fire resistant rating, door number,
year of manufacture. The metal tag is to be riveted to the
bottom rail.
On completion and testing of the fire resistant shutter, the
manufacturer shall supply a certificate of compliance, stating
that inspection of the installation has been carried out and
complies with the standards and/or specifications.
This certificate shall be passed on to the owner or builder
to be forwarded to regulating authorities. NOTE: A minimum
headroom of 800mm is required to comply with fire test authorities.
Operation
Roller Shutters operate by means of a flexible curtain guided
in steel tracks and revolving on a roller drum. Hand operation
is not recommended for shutters over 2200mm height, 3000mm
width or 6m². See Method of Operation.
Chain Operation
Gearing shall be fitted to one end of the Roller Shutter and
matched to suit door size and weight. Chain operation is not
recommended over 16m².
Motorisation
See Industrial Operators.
